John L Sullivan

In Today in Rock History, we learned about John L Sullivan, who took part in the final bare-knuckle boxing match in 1889.

Then, we learned, that in 1883, he was on tour taking on all comers - with a prize of $250 for anyone who could last more than 4 rounds with him.

The "Strongest Man In Iowa" decided at the Davenport, Iowa tour stop that he'd take him on.

Even more hype for the event, Iowa's Strongest Man, Mike Sheehan's wife went to Sullivan's room and begged him not to fight her husband because she didn't want to see her husband behind bars for murdering him.

Sure enough, the fight came, and Sheehan lasted a total of THREE SECONDS.

"Sheehan put up his fists; Sullivan pushed down those fists with his right, and with his left tunked Sheenan on the right side of his nose, and the latter threw his two hands to his face and looked at Sullivan in perfect amazement! It was pitiable, but very laughable. After a little loss of time, Sheehan approached the champion again, down went his guard again, and a light blow fell upon his left cheek and turned him partly around, and quick as lightning a cuff under the left jaw fairly sent him spinning toward the rear end of the stage. The 250$ was no object now, and Sheehan went to pulling off his gloves and walking toward the north wings, behind which he disappeared feeling of his nose the while. Mr. Sheehan is a very powerful man, but he lacks training as a boxer. Had he got one on Sullivan, the latter would have felt it, surely." - Davenport Democrat

Doc Antle

Remember the other guy in Tiger King that had the other park where he had all the women working there.

He's been indicted and found guilty on several federal charges.

Money laundering, wildlife trafficking, human trafficking, and more.

There's a documentary about Jack Hanna and the underbelly of exotic animal trade.

Bomb Threat On FL Plane

A guy on a flight in Florida turned to a passenger who he later said was rude to him, and told the passenger his laptop was a bomb.

Of course, it wasn't.

If you missed it, there was also a notable performance from Jack Black. He couldn't make the live show, but he did prerecord a cover of Mr. Crowley with the sons of Tom Morello and Scott Ian.
