Chili Finger
There's a new movie coming down the line, premiering first at SXSW Film Festival in a few weeks, called Chili Finger.
It was shot in Monticello, Illinois, and stars John Goodman, Bryan Cranston, Judy Greer, and Sean Astin. It follows the story from 2005 of the woman who found a finger in her chili at Wendy's and tried to blackmail the franchise owners.
Miracle
We talked again about the Miracle on Ice documentary on Netflix, and Johnny Marks called and talked about it some as well. He said it might be the best sports documentary ever made. It's called Miracle: The Boys of '80.
Westby Ski Jumping Tournament
In Westby, Wisconsin, there's an annual ski jumping tournament that happened over this past weekend.
Michaels stopped by just after it ended just to get an idea of how big the jump is, because you can see it from 2 miles away.
It's hosted at the Snowflake Ski Club, where they have six jumps in total, with one of them being a 118-meter (387ish feet) Olympic-sized hill used for national and international competitions.
Look at the size of this thing.
And just like a kid going down the hill at the park, the worst part is walking back up to the top.
They have 65, 40, 20, 10, and 5-meter hills as well, so people of any level can train there.
Here's video from one of the winners of the tournament, jumping down the ramp.
If you want to go to this jump tournament, you can go for a pretty good deal. For just $20, you get a button to put on your coat, and it'll give you access for the whole weekend.
Check out the website for Snowflake Ski Club for more info. They've been there jumping since 1922, and it's just a 3 hour drive from the Quad Cities.
There's also the Copper Peak jump in the UP, in Ironwood, Michigan. It's 469 feet tall, and they say you can see 4 states AND Canada from the top. They've held Olympic trials there in the past.
Hairball's Diet
Hairball has to do the Low FODMAP diet, which basically takes out anything good.
He missed flavor. He can't use normal seasonings, like onion powder or garlic powder. He found a seasoning brand that lets his food have flavor, called Smoke N Sanity.
They remove all the bad stuff from the food before it's made into the seasoning, and it's certified by Monash University, the head of the FODMAP research.
