Florida Man Arrested After Second Attempt To Steal A Septic Tank
A Florida man got busted after not one, but two tries at stealing a spetic tank from a construction site, according to surveillance footage.
The Marion County Sheriff's Office said its deputies responded to a reported theft at a construction site in the 21600 block of West Highway 40.
MCSO has shared the surveillance footage that shows a man, identified as Alfio Nocifora, attempting to steal a septic tank using his Toyota Corrolla.
Deputies explained that Nocifora’s heist plan “went completely down the drain” after he could not maneuver the tank onto his car.
According to the footgae, he kept trying to push and lift the tank into his trunk until a Jeep could be seen driving by, which spooked him. Nocifora jumped in the driver's seat and sped off, leaving the tank behind.
The next night, he showed back up to the location, this time better prepared with a rented U-Haul truck.
He used the truck's ramp, sliding the tank up the ramp and into the truck, and then stole around $2,500 worth of electrical pipe.
Thinking ahead, Nocifora covered the license plate and ID number on the U-Haul, but after reviewing footage, a detective was able to identify him (probably based on prior interactions).
Alfio Nocifora has been charged with grand theft, unlawful use of a two-way device and intentionally obscuring a license plate during the commission of a crime.
