Season Ticket Holder Sues Bears Over Packers Gear Ban
Russell Beckman acknowledges the rivalry between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers as on of the oldest ones in the NFL. "The excitement is Bears and Packers fans together, representing their teams."
Allegedly back in 2016 the Bears denied Beckman access to a pregame event at Soldier Field because he was wearing Packers gear. Now he's filed a federal lawsuit against the organization.
Beckman works and lives as a social studies teacher in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin and is a season ticket holder for both the Packers and the Bears. "I could have worn something nondescript, but I'm there for the Packers-Bears game," Beckman said. "I feel like the Bears are diminishing that."
His lawsuit aims to make the Bears reverse their policy and allow him to wear his Packers gear while on-field. In the 2014 and 2015 seasons, Beckman claims to have attended the same event while wearing his jersey with no incident.
