‘Modern Day Bonnie and Clyde’ Break Into Arizona Restaurant, Steal Cash and Have Sex
A break-in at a Scottsdale, Arizona restaurant is turning heads after surveillance footage showed a couple not only robbing the business but also engaging in sexual activity before fleeing the scene.
Security Cameras Catch More Than a Robbery
Mon Chéri, a popular restaurant known for its floral decor and pastel-colored dishes, was targeted in the early hours of Saturday, October 25. Owner Lexi Caliskan said that the suspects took $450 in cash, a company iPhone, and a bottle of Bacardi. The pair also caused damage to doors and cash registers while forcing their way in.
Caught on Camera in a “Romantic Spot”
Before committing the theft, the two were seen on security cameras outside the restaurant in a floral heart display frequently used by customers for Instagram photos. “We have a heart installation there, where our customers take Instagram photos,” Caliskan said. She joked that the suspects picked quite the “romantic spot” for their “quick interaction.”
When employees arrived later that morning and discovered the damage, Caliskan reviewed the security footage and shared clips of the suspects on Instagram, captioning the video, “Food so good they come at 4am ❤️.” The post also asked followers if anyone could identify the pair.
Staff Left Feeling Violated but Hopeful for Justice
“We are all women and run a women’s celebration spot, and it violated and scared all of us,” Caliskan said. “Overall, we want our streets to be safe!”
Caitlyn Sorensen described the suspects as a “modern-day Bonnie and Clyde.” Caliskan added with a laugh, “I think it’s maybe all the roses! And Mon Chéri means ‘my dear’ in French, which is a really endearing term — so you never know.”
