Rod & Custom Show Ends Annual Streak at 37, Cancels 2021

The 38th Annual Rod & Custom Show will have to wait, as Illinois Covid precautions, and our own safety policy here at Townsquare Media made planning, and hosting it impossible. We saw the writing on the wall earlier this year, but hoped for an opportunity to put together the January show we've grown to love. Then reality set in. 97X and Townsquare Media just couldn't do the show justice, and keep visitors distanced to our liking for January 2021. Franky, it sucks.

I've always said the Rod & Custom Show is a great little preview to the upcoming car show season. A slice of summer in the dead of winter. Every January since I came to the Quad Cities I would bundle myself up and head to Rock Island to see what was new, and simultaneously what was old, in the world of wheels. I was even fortunate enough to be invited to show a few times.  My father-in-laws' 1940 Ford Deluxe shone brightly under the lights in the toasty Expo Center, with winter howling outside. I met some great car guys (And gals) who I now consider long time friends.

It's been a difficult year for car shows around here. I hope to see more of you as 2021 unfolds. I know there are shows in the works! Stay healthy, and keep your shiny side up!
