Rock Island Pay-What-You-Can Restaurant Celebrating One Year Of Business
NEST Café, the Quad Cities’ only Pay-what-you-can restaurant is celebrating it’s 1 year anniversary Friday, April 14 with lunch and dinner. Whether you’re a regular customer or want to try NEST Café for the first time, they’re inviting everyone to share in the celebration. As always, NEST Café will be serving up made-from-scratch meals using farm-fresh ingredients, and rather than paying a set price, you pay whatever you’re able.
During this first year of operating in downtown Rock Island, NEST Café founder and director Laura Mahn says “The best thing about NEST is the community we’ve built. People from all walks of life enjoy being here. That’s exactly what we’d hoped.”
Everyone pitches in in their own way at NEST Café, whether it’s by donating the suggested amount or more, volunteering, or just helping out when they see the need, everyone is able to eat with dignity knowing they participated in some way.
Looking ahead, NEST Café, whose mission is to nourish bodies and community by providing delicious, sustainably sourced food to all who enter regardless of their means, is excited to bring more people into their community by offering more options on their menu.
The menu at NEST Café changes daily so that they’re always making use of seasonal, local ingredients. Starting April 14 at their anniversary celebration, NEST will be offering not 1 but 2 entrees, along with sides, salad, dessert and drinks each day. Vegan and Gluten free options are always available.
So, what can you expect on April 14? NEST Café will be open for both lunch and dinner, 11-2 and 5-8pm. Expect delicious food, as always, along with gifts for kids that come, and a chance to win raffle prizes. Bring a friend for an extra chance to win prizes.
NEST Café is located at 1524 4th Ave, Rock Island.
