QC Veterans’ Roll Call Radio Show February 26, 2017 Show Notes
Greetings All!
Today's show featured two local guests and was packed full of important and practical information.
Our first guest was Mr. Kevin Lonergan. Kevin is a retired Lieutenant Colonel with the U.S. Army Reserve Judge Advocate Corps. Kevin is the Legal Assistance Attorney for the Rock Island Arsenal. If you are on active duty, are a military retiree or a dependent, you are entitled to free legal assistance. While there are certain matters Kevin's office cannot assist you with, such as appearing in court for a divorce, for example. If you would like to schedule an appointment with Kevin's office, please call 309.782.1443.
For those who are otherwise eligible for legal service via Kevin's office, he shared with us a wonderful program through the John Marshall School of Law. Mr. Brian Klauss heads up this program and he can be reached at 312.427.2737.
Our second guest is Rev. Jon Yarian. Jon, in addition to being an ordained minister, is the Coordinator of Genesis' Grief Counseling Center. We discussed many issues related to the somber yet important subject of grief, including hospice care Everyone will experience the loss of a loved one and we in the Veterans' community have unique issues surrounding grief. I was especially pleased to hear that Genesis has a We Honor Veterans" appreciation program for hospice patients.
Of the many meaningful things the Genesis Grief Counseling Center offers, one in particular we want to highlight is their Suicide Loss Grief Support Group. This group will have its first meeting this coming Friday, March 6th, at Genesis West, starting at 6:00 p.m. Jon will be facilitating this meeting. Please see the flier below for more information.
Here's a final reminder for the Eastern Iowa/Western Illinois Veterans' Conference this coming Wednesday, March 1st, at St. Ambrose University. It starts at 12:00 p.m. and here is the link for registration.
We're thrilled that some of our previous shows are now online that you can listen to at your schedule. (We get it, not everyone wants to be up at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings.) Here the link to hear our former shows.
Thanks for supporting QC Veterans' Roll Call and we'll see you at the Veterans' conference on March 1st!
Best regards,
Jeno
