QC Veterans’ Roll Call August 27th Radio Show
Greetings All!
Tomorrow morning's show will feature three guests: First up is Congressman Dave Loebsack, who represents Iowa's 2nd Congressional District. The Congressman and I discussed a variety of topics related to Veterans' care, the horrific (and completely unacceptable) number of Veterans' suicides, the strategic importance of the Rock Island Arsenal and other issues. He was quite gracious with his time and this is one of our longer interviews. The Congressman was joined by his District Representative Jared Mullendore.

Up next was NFL and former Iowa Hawkeye great Julian Vandervelde. Julian is truly a "Renaissance Man" An NFL player and former Iowa Hawkeye great, Julian is involved in a ton of activities. Currently a volunteer coach for the Davenport Central Sophomore football team, he also is the lead singer for the band, "Bigger On The Inside," pursuing his substitute teaching certificate and taking a lead role with Juice Box Charities. This is in addition to being a husband and father. Julian is not a bored guy.
Here is a link below to a "YouTube" Julian singing our National Anthem for then President-Elect Obama at The University of Iowa. Although the video is a bit shaky, Julian's voice is strong!
We spent some time discussing Juice Box Charities and the worthy causes they support. From King's Harvest no-kill animal shelter to Jason's Box, they are making a difference in our community. To learn more about Juice Box Charities, please search them on Facebook.
Our final guest for this show was Mr. Jake Ward, Vice President for Marketing, from the Rock Island Arsenal (R.I.A) Federal Credit Union. The RIA Federal Credit Union has been a long standing financial partner of our community. We discussed many of the programs they offer for both Veterans and others.
On September 1, 2016, the R.I.A. Federal Credit Union is sponsoring a night at Modern Woodman Park to benefit the "Honor Flight" program. For every ticket purchased at $8.00, $4.00 will go to support the "Honor Flight" program. Tickets can be purchased at any branch of the credit union. Here's a link with more information:
