The QC Jamz 3v3 Feel Good Fest is this Friday and Saturday from 10:00am-10:00pm at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in Davenport.

You can register your team here for free!

I talked to Nicole Cruz about this great event happening this weekend.

So, what's is this event you've put together?

The primary focus of the event is on mental illness awareness and suicide prevention. We will have 3 on 3 basketball and an awesome line up of local performers from all genres that are each excited and ready to make these 2 days ones to remember.

This is all about coming together and supporting each other. We will have resources on-site from Peer Recovery Services, Speak Out Against Suicide, Star Flower Clinic, etc. It will be all family friendly.

So...sports, music and I hear there's a parade?

We will be having a parade on Saturday morning which all first responders and their families are invited to participate in. The rest of the QC is invited to cheer them on. Any businesses that want to walk in the parade and show their support for our area first responders, it's free. The parade is being recorded via drone, as well as, the "Knockout Hate" event scheduled with two time world boxing champ Michael Nunn just after the parade.

We will have music going, games, photo opps with our very own undefeated Quad City United basketball team (started in 2021) and Coach/Owner Devlin Anderson.

How did this event get started?

The bottom line is, this is just an event that I came up with and it made me nervous enough that I knew I just had to make that leap. I thank everyone for their patience and their support.

It's amazing the little things that people can do that can make a difference in another persons life. That's why I'm doing this. Admission to the event is FREE but donations are accepted at the door.

What do you hope people will get out of it? Is there anything else you'd like people to know?

Please just come down and eat, drink, play ball, listen to music, catch a comedy act, check out some of our community resources we have available. You can even catch some wandering magic at the event!

The other thing I really need help with is getting as many area first responders down to that parade on Saturday as possible. Teachers, police, fire, paramedics, correctional officers, dispatchers, active and retired military veterans, healthcare workers, and their families. Any businesses that want to be involved, let's make this video be what goes viral about the QC ... not all this violence and hatred we keep hearing coming out of our area.

Bouncy houses and kids activities open both days from 10:00am - 7:00pm. Food & drinks available for purchase from the MVF. Admission is FREE. With a focus on mental illness awareness and suicide prevention, there will be plenty of resources on site.

Life Connections Peer Recovery Services, Family Resources, Speak Out Against Suicide, Star Flower Clinic, King's Harvest Pet Rescue - No Kill Shelter, and others will be on-site to provide information and answer questions.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
