The National Weather Service of the Quad Cities announced that there is a good chance of strong storms coming through Eastern Iowa on Father's Day.

"There is an increasing threat for severe storms across the area on Sunday," they said in a Facebook post.

NWS explained that storms will roll through in two rounds tomorrow, with an "Enhanced" risk for areas of Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Quad Cities, Burlington and Sterling.

Round 1 - 10am-3pm: 

  • Damaging Winds
  • Large Hail

They explained that their confidence level of these threats is low for the first round.

Round 2 - 5pm-11pm: 

  • Damaging Winds
  • Large Hail
  • Isolated Tornadoes

NWS said their confidence level is medium for Round 2, and that the higher threat will be possible during the 5pm-11pm window.
