Usually when I go out for a beer, I like to be served by the bartender, mostly because it's frowned upon to pour your own beer.

The Quad Cities will soon have a new beer joint that will allow you to pour your own suds. So far the concept is a big hit in Peoria.

Pour Bros. Craft Taproom is already doing well in Peoria and central Illinois. Now the Quad Cities can look forward to the pour-your-own-beer concept in Moline sometime this winter according to a company announcement earlier this week.

Peoria Heights-based Pour Bros. will move into the 4,000 sq. ft. space in the O'Rourke Building at 12th Street and Fourth Avenue in Moline. the same building where the Element by Westin Hotel is now and the proposed Amtrak location.

According to the Peoria Journal Star,

Moline has a nice business community filled with small, local-owned-and-operated businesses, with tons of potential to grow," Pour Bros. co-owner Robbie Mathisen told the Journal Star. "We’re looking to add to what they have.

The Journal Star article states the project costs will be somewhere around $820,000 and will include furniture built from repurposed materials, concrete floors, metal, wood and tile.

Something unique about this bar is that it will feature 16 beer  taps that will allow patrons to pour their own beer. An electronic card keeps track of the ounces poured and the cost. Beer selections will rotate and include craft beers from Illinois and beyond.

Pour Bros. opened the central Illinois location in 2016 in Peoria Heights, at 4450 N. Prospect Road. Another location opened two years later at 40 E. University Ave. in Champaign. Both bars  include canned and bottled craft and mainstream beers, as well as a full bar.

The Journal Star also indicates the owners will partner with a local food establishment that features a Southern fast-casual menu.

"We have fallen in love with the Quad Cities area, a community overflowing with the richness of history, heart and culture we align with, both personally and professionally,” according to a post on the Moline Pour Bros. Facebook page.
