Could you imagine getting a phone call from somebody claiming to be the state treasurer saying that you were due over $700,000. You'd probably hang up on them thinking it was a scam, I know I would.

An unnamed man in South Carolina got a call from Curtis Loftis, the state treasurer and president of the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators. Loftis makes it his mission to unite people with their unclaimed money.

The man he called was owed 3/4 of a million dollars from his father who had passed away more than 15 years ago. The man originally thought it was a scam, but his son convinced him to pursue it.

"When I originally looked up the name, I found four different listings for it,” Treasurer Loftis said. “I was determined to find the right one, and I’m so happy that we are able to return the money to the rightful heir.”
