Man Shot Himself In Leg At Corn Maze Trying To Get Corn Out of His Boot
A man in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, shot himself at a corn maze over the weekend after his weapon accidentally discharged.
Brooklyn Park police say they responded to the shooting at the corn maze off 109th Avenue North near Highway 169 Saturday morning shortly before noon.
Police say the victim, a 38-year-old male from Circle Pines, Minnesota, was at the maze with his family. Police learned that he, a licensed gun owner, was legally carrying a concealed firearm when he got some corn in his boot while in the corn pit.
Investigators say he bent over to get the corn kernel out of his boot when the gun discharged, shooting him in the leg.
Police say the gun didn't have a safety or a hammer, so they're investigating whether the man mishandled the weapon at some point in the incident. He's currently not facing any charges and is expected to recover from his injury.
