Man Says He Stole $1,450 From Arby’s Because the Money Was “Calling out” to Him

I'm not sure it's anyone's divine calling to rob an Arby's, but here we are.

A 30-year-old guy named Christopher Merrick went into a closed Arby's in Tarpon Springs, Florida last week, where a female employee was counting cash for the register. And Christopher grabbed the cash and ran.

He headed straight to a McDonald's across the street and hid in the women's bathroom...  until the cops showed up and found him and the cash. It turned out he'd stolen $1,450 from the Arby's.

So why did Christopher steal the money? He told the cops, "I saw the money on the counter and it was, like, calling out to me."

He's been charged with felony grand theft.
