Authorities arrested a man who decided to climb onto the wing of a flight preparing for takeoff, before falling off of it at Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport on Saturday.

Video shows the man walking on the wing, grabbing the winglet, then taking off his shoes and trying to climb the winglet. When officers approached, he slipped and fell to the ground.

The suspect was taken into custody and taken to a hospital to be checked out after the fall.

A statement from Alaska Airlines said in a statement that that the plane was scheduled for takeoff at 2pm, headed for Portland when the pilot spotted the man on the wing of the plane.

"Law enforcement was dispatched and able to apprehend the individual," the airline said. "Our guests and employees are safe and we are working with law enforcement. The plane returned to the gate for a full inspection."

KSNV reported the man who was not named, might have been suffering from some sort of mental illness or impairment.
