A British inventor started off looking to make a more environmentally friendly ice cream truck, and ended up breaking a Guinness World Record for the world's fastest ice cream truck.

Guinness said Edd China broke the record when the truck ran a top speed of 73.921mph at Elvington Airfield in Yorkshire, England. It doesn't sound like a lot, but when you consider the weight of the freezer and all of the contents, it's pretty fast.

Edd was determined to build an ice cream truck after he found out a lot of London boroughs had banned them for their emissions being too high.

The vehicle, a Mercedes Sprinter, originally had the Sprinter's diesel engine, but Edd swapped it to be fully electric.

His goal is to make the conversion kit publicly available for purchase in order to help ice cream trucks get back on the road in a cleaner way.
