“I’m Sorry, I Have To Do This” Man Says As He Strips Naked In HomeGoods
A Cape Coral man was arrested on Monday after police say he exposed himself to a shopper inside of a HomeGoods.
According to the Cape Coral Police Department, officers responded to the HomeGoods on Del Prado Boulevard South at around 10:45am after reports of a fully nude man inside the store.
When police arrived to the store, they were told the naked guy had gone to a nearby Aldi store after being told the suspect had walked in that direction and may have entered the store. Officers found him standing near the entrance to the store and identified him as 43-year-old Billy Thomas.
Officers detained him, and while walking back to the car they spotted a pair of white shoes and a pair of underwear near the front door of the HomeGoods store. He told the officers that they were his, and said the clothes had started smoking and that his bicycle had started smoking as well.
Police never did locate the bicycle he mentioned.
A woman inside of the HomeGoods at the time of the incident told officers that she saw Thomas enter the store, walk into the aisle where the woman was standing, and said "I'm sorry, I have to do this." The woman said Thomas then dropped his pants and exposed himself. A store employee also confirmed that Thomas had been naked in the store.
Thomas was arrested and faces a charge of indecent exposure.
"I don't really expect to go HomeGoods and see some naked man in the middle of the aisle," said Alexandra Campos, a woman who was shopping at the store who also saw the naked guy.
