A Spooky New Show Is Coming to the Quad Cities: Paranormal Cirque

I have been seeing this pop up all over my social media feed…but what exactly IS Paranormal Cirque?

The name sounds like a haunted house, a circus, and maybe a paranormal investigation all rolled into one. And, really, that’s not too far off.

Paranormal Cirque is a theatrical circus experience that combines traditional circus acts with a dark, creepy, Halloween-inspired atmosphere. Instead of the bright colors and family-friendly feel you might expect from a traditional circus, this one leans heavily into the strange, mysterious and supernatural.

And it’s coming to Davenport, Iowa.

What Is “Paranormal Cirque Inferno”?

The Davenport production is Paranormal Cirque Inferno, part of Cirque Italia’s Paranormal Cirque series.

The “Inferno” version continues the show's darker theme, combining circus artistry with a supernatural and sinister atmosphere.

But don't go in expecting two hours of people jumping out from behind walls.

The focus is still on the performers.

You’ll see circus acts taking place throughout the show, with the creepy characters, music, lighting and storyline tying everything together.

In other words, it’s a circus show dressed up as a horror experience.

What Kind of Acts Will You See?

The performers are professional circus artists, and the show features the kinds of physical skills you'd expect from a modern circus production.

That can include:

• Aerial performances
• Acrobatics
• Contortion
• Balancing acts
• Specialty circus performances
• Comedy and theatrical performances

The supernatural theme provides the backdrop for those performances.

Is It Actually Scary?

That's probably the biggest question for anyone considering tickets.

The answer is: it depends on what you consider scary.

Paranormal Cirque is designed to be creepy, mysterious, and occasionally startling, but it isn't the same experience as going through a haunted house.

You're seated and watching a stage performance. There isn't a group of actors chasing you through dark hallways.

Children under age 13 are not allowed entry, and teens 13-17 must attend with an adult.

Think more “horror-themed theatrical circus” than “haunted attraction.”

If you enjoy Halloween, creepy movies, haunted houses or anything with a little theatrical weirdness, the atmosphere will probably be right up your alley.

If you're easily frightened, you may still find yourself jumping once or twice.
