Your Guide To Cheap Or Free QC Labor Day Weekend Events
If you're hanging around the Quad Cities for Labor Day weekend, there's plenty of stuff to do that won't break the bank.
A lot of us are still feeling the sting of the cost of summer vacations and soon, we're going to be summoning the elves known as Mastercard and Visa, so now is a really good time to not spend money. But we want fun stuff to do over Labor Day weekend, especially since our friends at KWQC say that it's going to be sunny and summery.
It's the long weekend to close out summer. So let's have fun.
Cheap & Free Events In The Quad Cities
- Mercado on Fifth's ¡Noche de Estilo! happens Friday, September 1st from 5:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. at 423 12th Street in Moline. There will be live music, food trucks, and vendors set up. Admission is $5, folks 65 and older get in for free.
- Quad City Botanical Center's Pay What You Want Days. All weekend.
- Channel Cat rides. It's your last chance of the summer to catch a ride on the Channel Cat ferry. Rides happen from 9:00 a.m.-7:15 p.m. on Friday through Monday. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for kids ages 2-10.
- Quad Cities Labor Day Parade will start at 9:00 a.m. at John Deere Harvester Works parking lot (which is at 1100 13 Avenue) in East Moline.
- Milan Harvest Festival will be free to get into and will feature a carnival, live music, and even a euchre tournament. It's at Camden Park in Milan.
- Pioneer Village Labor Day Weekend Festival will be in Long Grove on Sunday and Monday, from 11:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. It will feature some old world crafts, you can see blacksmithing, get ice cream and root beer at the soda shop, and more. It's $2 admission for adults, $1 for kids 17 and under.
Even though it's kicking off September, it's going to be hot and sunny this weekend so wherever you go, make sure to bring sunscreen and drink plenty of water.
