McDonald’s CEO McRoasted On Social Media Trying Illinois-Based Menu Item
You can always count on social media to get opinions.
Here's what went down: McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski posted a video on Instagram of himself trying the chain's "Big Arch" burger. It's gained traction as the burger made it's U.S. debut on Tuesday.
McDonald's, which is based in Chicago, rolled out the "Big Arch" burger, describing it as the "most McDonald’s, McDonald’s burger". It's got 2 quarter-pound beef patties, melted white cheddar cheese, crispy and slivered onions, fresh lettuce, tangy pickles, toasted buns, "Big Arch sauce" (which McDonald's says is a "tangy, creamy sauce with a perfect balance of mustard, pickle and sweet tomato flavors").
The Controversy
People are really popping off about Kempczinski taking a small bite of the sandwich and calling it a product. Here's the video:
How big should the "tasting" bite really have been? Social media on the whole agrees it wasn't enough. Reactions to it include:
Man’s aura screams kale salad
Me, age 10, when my parents told me to eat my veggies
Companies themselves are even starting to weigh in on the CEO's post.
There were a lot of golden opinions (pun intended) on the tasting situation. Kempczinski said it "the distinctively McDonald's".
It is unclear how long the "Big Arch" sandwich will be on menus in the U.S. but it will stay permanently on the menu in Ireland and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, Kempczinski hasn't released a statement on the situation yet.
