The Average Dinner Date Cost In Iowa Will Make You Cringe
If you're looking for an excuse to stay in for Valentine's Day, here you go.
Maybe the average cost of dinner dates within the last year has played a hand in why the dating pool is so swampy. Of course, it depends on where you and your boo are going: you hitting up Chili's? Or maybe somewhere fancier like Johnny's in Moline?
The most recent numbers are out, and friends, it looks like dinner dates will be few and far between this year.
Numbers late last year from Numbeo looked at the 3 expenses of a typical date:
- average cost for a 2-person dinner at a mid-range restaurant
- one bottle of wine
- taxi transportation
Obviously, there's some give and take, like if you Uber instead, the quality of the wine, what you're ordering off the menu, etc.
The average price for a dinner date in Iowa is $107. Yikes. That's a utility bill.
For whatever reason, the average dinner date price is lower in Illinois, coming in at $81.
Wisconsin and Ohio are the most expensive dinner date Midwest states, clocking in at $112 and $113 respectively. Not surprisingly, the most expensive state for a dinner date is Hawaii, where you'll cough up an average $145 for a dinner date.
If there's good news, it's that Iowa isn't alone in that price range. Most states, according to the numbers, rank in the $91-$110 category.
Is it worth just ordering delivery and drinking cheap wine at home for Valentine's Day? The Magic 8 ball says all signs point to yes.
