One man in Davenport had a particularly great payday.

This is the kind of moment that, anytime we buy a Powerball ticket or scratch-off, we hope just might happen to us.

It doesn't but it did for one Davenport man.

According to a press release from Iowa Lottery, Larry McFarland Jr., from Davenport, won $100,000 off of a Powerball drawing from Nov. 12.

McFarland's ticket matched 4 of 5 white balls in the drawing and was one number away from winning the $515.7 million jackpot. His initial $50,000 was doubled because he added the $1 Power Play to his ticket.

He bought the ticket at Moti's Food in Davenport (which is at 1717 W. 3rd St.). He returned after the owner had told him about a big prize and urged him to check his ticket. McFarland doubted it was his ticket that won but sure enough, when he checked the winning numbers at home, it was indeed his ticket.

McFarland picked up his prize Monday in the Cedar Rapids regional lottery office and had this to say about the feeling:

Its surreal. It's still surreal right now, it's still unbelievable. A lot of things are going to get cleaned up for me and I'll be able to catch up on some stuff.

Specifically, McFarland said he plans to use the money to pay off his car and repay a few people who have helped him over the years.

As for Powerball, no one won the jackpot after that drawing so for Wednesday, it stands at about $593 million.
