Iowa Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Assaulting, Running Over Woman

Ottumwa police responded to a report of car accident, when they arrived they found a serious domestic dispute had occurred.

Joseph Dobbe had physically assaulted his girlfriend then left the scene. He returned a few minutes later and ran her over with his car. The 40-year-old fled and was located at his mother's house.

He refused to surrender and a standoff ensued for several hours. Eventually a medical problem caused Dobbe to suffer pain and he was taken to a hospital. He was eventually taken into custody.
