I-80 Near West Branch is Closed
Our friend, State Trooper Dan Loussaert (aka Trooper Dan) tweeted this morning from the site of an accident at mile marker 254 on I-80 at West Branch where the road is closed both directions.
As the drizzle hits the ground and instantly freezes, roads are quickly turning to sheets of ice. Trooper Dan said "Travel is not recommended. Please wait a few hours to travel if possible."
There are quite a few delays for schools today, so keep an eye out for that. At 6:45am, the list covered the Iowa side of the QCA, but stubborn ol' Moline hadn't declared a late start yet. Reports of salt trucks in ditches in Eldridge, and we have a report of a 30 car pileup at mile marker 271 (US 6 west / Iowa 38 south - Wilton, Muscatine Cedar) on I-80.
