Football Player Breaks Vertebrae Weeks After Accepting Full Ride to Iowa
Michael Lois' future in college football is on hold after he seriously injured himself jumping into a friend's pool from a trampoline.
The star defensive end is a junior at Elkhorn High School in Wisconsin and had just accepted a full ride to the University of Iowa. Now he's in a neck brace after breaking three vertebrae.
"I told the coaches when I got to go on the field, 'you guys got me. This is where I'm going to play,'" Michael told WITI. "It was a good day -- probably the best day of my life."
Doctors expect Michael to make a full recovery, but he'll be off the field for the rest of the 2018 season. Despite being told to pick a different sport, he's determined to be back with his high school team for his senior year.
