Florida Police Borrow Boat To Apprehend Stranded Jet Ski Thief
Deputies in Volusia County, Florida made an arrest on Sunday afternoon after a suspect allegedly stole a jet ski.
Authorities said 48-year-old Ronald Williams stole the jet ski around 12:30pm Sunday and when he was unable to get it started, ended up floating away on the jet ski.
When officers were called, they arrived with the ability to see the Ronald Williams floating out into the Intracoastal Waterway.
A family preparing to head out on the water with their boat allowed the deputies to borrow it for a minute to apprehend the stranded sad excuse of a jet ski thief.
Bodycam footage shared by the Volusia County Sheriff's Office showed the deputies approaching Williams on their borrowed boat with guns drawn, telling him that he needed to put his hands in the air.
Deputies then ordered Williams to hop off of the jetski and swim to their boat, but he said he didn't know how to swim.
"So you're gonna take a jet ski and you don't know how to swim?" One of the deputies asked him.
Deputies tossed Ronald Williams a rope and used the rope to pull him and the floating jet ski to the boat.
The sheriff's office said Williams was taken into custody without incident, and the jetski was returned to its rightful - and probably relieved - owners.
"Williams was taken into custody without incident and the jet ski was returned to its owner," the sheriff's office wrote in their Facebook post.
