Authorities in Titusville, Florida say their regular patrol took a turn when they happened across a large fire in the street around 2:12am Sunday morning.

The fire, on Craig Avenue, was in front of a home that had been cited five times in the last six months for illegal burning. The flames went from the sidewalk in front of the home, across the entire street, with four foot high flames.

When the officers approached the suspect, Scott Taylor, he was holding a sword in his hand, and had a knife in his waistband. He was actively drinking, and when he spotted the officers began chugging the half-gallon bottle of Captain Morgan spiced rum.

Authorities say he dropped the knife and sword when asked, but couldn't give a good reason to why he started the fire in the roadway. He was arrested and taken to the Titusville Police Department immediately.

While in his holding cell, he intentionally reached up to the ceiling and broke a fire sprinkler, causing the cell and booking room to flood with water. Officials say they then transferred him to the Brevard County Jail, where he sits currently on charges of intentional or reckless burning of lands and felony criminal mischief.
