Florida Man Blames Rap Song For Being Busted Driving 120mph
Some may call an excuse bad, but sometimes it's not an excuse, just the downright truth.
Police pulled over a guy named Richard Lee Ortecho, 21, after he was seen speeding and weaving in and out of traffic Saturday night near Vero Beach.
Richard was driving his Volkswagen at "speeds ranging between 120mph and 127mph" in a 70mph zone.
He was noted to have been close to hitting other vehicles, and didn't stop right away when the officer gave chase.
When he finally pulled over, he told the officer, "I’m sorry, I didn’t know driving reckless was illegal," according to the affidavit.
The officer asked Richard why he was driving the way he was, and Richard told him he was listening to a song called "A Ciento Veinte."
"Ciento veinte means 120, so I was driving 120," he said.
Richard Lee Ortecho was charged with fleeing from police, a felony, and reckless driving, a misdemeanor. A search of his car turned up marijuana and a grinder, so he'll also be seeing charges for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
