Florida Driver Trolled Tolls With Remote-Control License Plate Blocker
If you're going to utilize a remote-control cover to block your license plate from tollways, make sure you don't use it in front of a Highway Patrol trooper.
70-year-old Robert Craig Davis from Key Largo, Florida was busted using a plate blocker when he activated it while driving in front of an off-duty trooper. Lt. Alejandro Camacho saw the black shield come down just before passing a toll plaza.
The trooper called and reported the Davis' Chrysler Pacifica. Soon after the call, authorities found the van and pulled it over. They found a remote control in the center console of the vehicle which would cause the blocker to move up and down.
Davis was charged with organized fraud, cheating, and petty theft.
