Orange County troopers say that Joshua Concepcion West is facing a felony charge for using a remote control license plate blocker to avoid a $1.25 toll.

Here's a video of the device in action:

Investigators say that most drivers will use low-budget methods to getaway without paying tolls. This was the most elaborate cheat that they've seen thus far.

So how was West caught? While traveling on Toll Road 408 Expressway he dropped the blocker and passed the toll. “After he cleared the toll booth, the tag came back up. The tag was exposed again,” said Sgt. Kim Montes, of the Florida Highway Patrol.

The Highway Patrol knows this because a trooper was driving behind West at the time. The 27-year-old was arrested on felony charges of petit theft and cheating.
