This Thursday is Flag Day and the citizens of the Quad Cities have a very cool opportunity to witness patriotism at its best and honor our veterans and military.

Fly the Flag High is a local organization that is organizing an event for the morning of June 14th. Between 8 and 9 A.M., two hundred flags will fly across the spans of he Master Sergeant Stanley Talbot (Centennial) Bridge.

If you would like to volunteer to hold a flag, report to 2nd Street and Gaines between 7 and 7:15 Thursday morning. Any volunteers will need to sign a waiver, if you have questions call Karen Buchanan at 309-236-2949.

There are also several spots around the bridge that are prime for viewing the event and taking photos. If you're interested in spectating, head out to LeClaire Park in Davenport, Schwiebert Park in Rock Island, or the third base line seats in Modern Woodmen Park.
