For the first time ever, a female soldier has graduated from the Army's elite special forces course and is going to join the previously all-male team. The team was founded in 1952.

The woman, who is unidentified by officials, graduated Thursday and put on her Green Beret alongside 400 other soldiers.

Officials said they will only speak of anonymity when it comes to personnel matters, said she is a member of the National Guard.

The Green Berets consist of more than 6,700 soldiers, working in 12-person teams.

The majority of people who try do not pass the assessments designed to weed out soldiers that cannot make the grade.
