Downtown Davenport Shines With “Currents” Festival

Downtown Davenport has a rich history of being many things to many different people. From booze during prohibition, to lively music, art and nightlife, it's always been home to something!

Well, this weekend downtown Davenport will be home to a little of everything in a new festival called Alternating Currents, starting Friday Morning and not saying goodnight until the wee hours of Sunday. With cooperation from no less than 16 different venues, there will indeed be too much for one person to see and do!

Downtown welcomes music fans of all styles Friday and Saturday, from the powerful psychedelic bombast of Condor & Jaybird (Among others) Friday night at Daytrotter, to the fractured storytelling of Ben Folds at the Adler Saturday. And every other kind of music in between.

Film showcases for every taste will light up screens at the Redstone Room, Figge and Bucktown, and also the not-so-traditional Kilkenny's and Triple Crown Whiskey Bar and Raccoon Motel. From documentaries, to Reefer Madness, heck, Great River Brewery will be showing King Kong vs. Godzilla!

Art takes center stage at Bucktown and Figge. The artists at Bucktown will exhibit several galleries, including a "Summer Of Love" theme.
