Doctors Remove Scissors from Vietnamese Man After 18 Years

For the past 18 years Ma Van Nhat has been unknowingly walking around with a pair of surgical forceps inside his abdomen.

The 54-year-old says that the scissors were probably left in him after an emergency surgery he had in 1998 following a traffic accident. Nhat would only feel pain occasionally and was given pain medication for what doctors thought was a stomach ulcer.

Later an x-ray showed the six-inch-long surgical instrument broken apart and lodged in the man's stomach. Doctors performed another operation to remove the forceps.
