Davenport Marine Running Flag Across Iowa to Promote Veterans Suicide Awareness
Brian Geerts has been in the Marine Corps since the 80s. Sadly, since his time served, the Corporal has known four military members who have committed suicide.
Every day you can see Brian running around the Quad Cities and carrying a flag with him every step of the way. He runs 22 miles each day, one for each veteran who commits suicide every day.
Next Friday, the Marine is taking his awareness mission to the next level.
Brian will run across the state of Iowa starting on May 25th. His goal is to let fellow veterans know that there is always somebody there who cares.
The run will make its way through 47 towns in the state and stretches over 388 miles. The final stop is at the Veterans Memorial in Bettendorf, 16 days after the run begins.
You can make donations online at Operation Engage America and be sure to follow Veteran Flying Flag Across Iowa on Facebook for updates.
