This Davenport man has a 2-month history of misusing his phone to make false 911 calls.

39-year-old John David Field was arrested Tuesday, January 10th after he made 48 false calls to the Scott Emergency Communications Center from November to January.

During his time on the phone with 911 dispatchers, he would threaten to beat up first responders and shoot police.

Charges

Davenport Police say that Field is charged with four counts of first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor that carries a prison sentence of two years.

He also is charged with one count of second-degree harassment, a serious misdemeanor that carries a jail sentence of up to one year.

On top of all that John David has also been charged with 48 counts of false report-911 calls. That charge is a simple misdemeanor that carries a jail sentence of up to 30 days.

During a 2-day period in November, Field was reported to have called 911 nine times.

When the 911 operator told Field that Scott Emergency Communications command would be contacting him, Field said he would kill them first.

  • December 11th, 2022
    • Field asked the operator whether she liked being sexually abused. He then threatened to shoot people and threatened to harm police officers because he claimed they abused him.
  • December 12th, 2022
    • Field told the operator that there was no emergency but he would beat up any responders.
  • December 21st, 2022
    • Field called 911 demanding to speak to a supervisor when he was put on the line with the shift supervisor Pat Shorter, Field told Shorter that if police entered his home again he would shoot them.
  • January 6th, 2023
    • Field said to the operator, “You guys already broke in. If I’m going to shoot the {expletive} he better be straight.”

Court Time

According to Scott County District Court electronic records Field has two convictions for false 911 reports in 2018.

John David Field was held in the Scott County Jail on Tuesday, January 10th on a cash-only bond totaling $22,000.

His first court appearance is today (Wednesday, January 11th) in the Scott County District Court.
