A Colorado man and his kid had a near-death experience while they were enjoying their usual ritual.

Allan Taylor and his 4-year-old son, Zane, stopped at City Donuts in Aurora to grab a snack when a car suddenly plowed through the front of the store.

Security camera footage shows the moment the Hyundai blasted through the glass doors of the shop while Taylor and his son were paying at the front counter.

"I was paying and doing what I always do — I glance at him, make sure he's fine, and I glanced to look at him and I saw the car coming through the door," Taylor told Fox. "It was hitting me as I was grabbing him."

A different angle of the video shows Taylor running and pulling Zane out of the way of the incoming car. The employee behind the counter can be seen grabbing her head and running away just as the car rams the doughnut display and comes to a stop.

The person behind the wheel is then seen jumping from the car and high-tailing it out of there. The vehicle was stolen.

Taylor says his parental instinct and football skills are why he was so quick to act.

"So always keep your head on a swivel when you've got your kids, you just never know," Taylor said. "It just takes one second between life or death."

Zane, on the other hand, had some words for the suspect who crashed the stolen car into his favorite donut shop.

"I'm not going to invite him to my birthday," Zane said, "because he's mean."

To make up for the bad experience, City Donuts said they're giving Zane a free doughnut every Saturday for the rest of his life.
