Dad Saves 4-Year-Old Daughter From Alligator

A man in Texas did his daddy-duty when an alligator got a little too close to his 4-year-old daughter.

Andrew Grande, from League City, Texas, spotted the gator headed right for his daughter when she was catching crabs with her brother and babysitter in the canal behind their home.

"When I first saw it, the only thing I was thinking of was just getting my daughter, just getting her out of the way, " he told CNN. "What his intentions were, I'm not 100% sure, but I wasn't going to find out."

Andrew ran out to the group, grabbed his daughter, and tossed her over their fence, while helping his son and their babysitter to safety.

"He was by far the biggest one we've ever seen, and in fact, they have never done that before. Usually, they keep their distance, just pass by," Andrew said, "You don't even know they're there, but this guy's intentions were definitely a little different."

The gator weighed in at about 600 pounds, and measured out to be 12-feet-long.

"He was just so big that if he had jumped out he would have just broken the fence, he was just that heavy."

Andrew said the alligator disappeared underwater, but it popped its head back up after his daughter came back outside, so he knew it was time to call for help.

A Texas game warden showed up with a professional gator wrangler and the wrangler's wife. After they got it out of the water, Andrew and their pool guy helped them wrestle the reptile into the back of a truck to be relocated.
