A copy of the comic with the very first appearance of Batman has sold at auction for $1.5 Million.

Detective Comics No. 27 was debuted in 1939, and the highest price at auction about 10 years ago for $1,075,000.

This copy was sold unrestored, but still had a rating of "fine/very fine 7.0” in terms of quality, making it only one of two copies at a 7.0 or higher rating. Only 5 other unrestored comics have received a 7.0 rating, according to Certified Guaranty Company.

"I'm not at all surprised at the result," Barry Sandoval, Heritage Auctions vice president said of the sale. "After all, this is one of the best copies you will ever see of one of the most important comic books ever published."

Bob Krane and Bill Finger's "The Case of the Chemical Syndicate" was the introduction of The Dark Knight, whose franchise has a worth of almost $24 Billion.
