If you or someone you know has ingested a Bud Light Lime-A-Rita, you may be entitled to financial compensation.

A class action lawsuit filed by two individuals against Anheuser-Busch accuses the company of false advertising after discovering the "Rita" products do not contain tequila.

The two claim that because the packaging has the word "margarita" on it, it should contain tequila.

“It is common knowledge, and indeed definitional, that a margarita contains tequila,” the plaintiffs said, also stating that when someone orders a margarita, the assumption is that the drink will contain tequila.

They say the image of a salted margarita glass on the packaging also is under false pretense.

Plaintiffs accuse the company as well for not putting any consumer-facing packaging stating whether the drink is actually margarita, or just beer flavored to taste like margarita. Only a small print on the bottom package panel reads "Malt beverage."

“Plaintiffs and Class members were all harmed by purchasing Defendant’s Products because they did not receive what they paid for, and, as a result, lost money and property,” the class action lawsuit says.

The class-action suit includes anyone who bought the products in the state of New York, whether for personal, family, or household use.
