Chicago Bears Honor East Moline High School Football Player
The Chicago Bears announced that they've selected their fifth Community High School All-Star Award recipient, and she's from the Quad Cities!
"The Chicago Bears are proud to announce Olivia Hansen, a senior at United Township High School in East Moline, Ill., as the fifth recipient of the Community High School All-Star award for the 2023 season," the Chicago Bears wrote in a press release.
"Olivia is a student-athlete who has made a great impact in her community. She has dedicated her time to volunteering at Mallard Point Kennels, where she helps with animal care," the press release says. "In addition, Olivia has completed numerous hours of community service as a member of the football program and the National Honors Society. She is also a member of the Spanish National Honor Society and participates in the school's Link Crew Program, through which she helps incoming freshmen transition into high school."
Olivia's football coach, Nick Welch, told the Chicago Bears "Our program emphasizes investing your time by serving your community, and Olivia fulfills that value by volunteering frequently. She deserves recognition for balancing school, athletics, and work while holding herself to a high standard. United Township is excited and proud to see Olivia receive this well-deserved award."
Olivia is the captain of United Township's volleyball team, the goalkeeper for the soccer team, and played kicker and holder for the football team. She enrolled in double-credit AP classes to earn fifteen college credits before graduation and has been chosen as her class's valedictorian.
