Davenport Central High School's varsity show choir, Central Singers Incorporated, swept the competition this weekend at Fame Nationals in Branson, a final competition for those who qualified at Fame Regionals.

The students qualified at Fame's regional contest in Orlando around a month ago, when they not only took first place for the first time in the choir's history of competing at the event, but also swept the captions, being awarded the following:

  • Grand Champion
  • Best Vocals
  • Best Choreography
  • Best Band
  • Best Crew
  • Best Male Soloist - Micah Roldan
  • Best Overall Male Performer - KJ Wright
  • Best Overall Female Performer - Cam Shumpert

Then, Central Singers Inc, alongside their backing band, Pit Nation, and killer stage crew, Stack Attack, went to Branson to see how they'd fair at Nationals, and they faired quite well.

Best Choreography, Best Vocals, Best Band, Outstanding Show Design, Best Male Stage Presence was awarded to KJ Wright, Best Female Stage Presence was awarded to Wrigley Mancha, Micah Roldan won the award for Best Male Solo, and the group left with a piece of hardware the school had yet to have in the trophy case: The Fame Nationals Grand Champion trophy!

The students arrived home Sunday, and return to school Monday morning.
