In the eight years that Andrea Bernstein has lived in her home in Staten Island, five vehicles has crashed into it. She's taken to asking the city for help.

The homeowner fears that it's only a matter of time before a fatal accident happens. The crashes have left cracks in the walls and one time a drunk plowed through a stop sign and damaged the home.

Andrea's house sits at the bottom of downhill straightaway on a curve. So vehicles gain a lot of speed and lose control.

"My fence constantly gets hit, this is preventing any cars, any motorcycle, any vehicle from going into my property, this fence," she said to CBS New York. "I just don’t want this to get hit anymore, I need something over here."

Officials say that a feasibility study for a potential guard rail could take six to eight weeks to complete.
