Man Threatened to Kill TSA Officer, Swung Stanchion, Stripped Naked
A 44-year-old man threatened to kill a Transportation Securit Administration agent before going after officers until he was subdued, according to charges brought by Hennepin County District Court.
Officials say Frank Towers of Minneapolis is charged with threatening TSA agents at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
At the skyway checkpoint Friday, Towers alledgedly told one of the TSA employees he was going to kill them, which is when the officer gave him commands to stop and back away from the checkpoint. Of course, he didn't.
This was about an hour after surveillance footage showed Towers punching and headbutting TVs around the airport before taking his clothes off and masturbating.
The Hennepin County Attorney's Office said Towers was then tased after trying to hit a stanchion before throwing it at them. Backup officers arrived and took Towers into custody while he continued to try and fight them.
He's been charged with fourth-degree assault against a peace officer, as well as making threats of violence with reckless disregard for risk, both felonies.
Frank Towers also has three other criminal charges in other criminal cases still pending, one involving a domestic assault charge in Olmsted County.
During the incident, Towers told officers he "didn't have to stop" because "it's a free country."
At this time, Towers is still in custody.
