American Tourist Brings Unexploded WWII Munition to Veinna Airport
A 24-year-old tourist from the U.S. found an unexploded World War Two shell while hiking in Austria. And she wanted to take it home with her as a souvenir.
She reportedly took the munition out of her luggage and ask the Austrian customs officials if she could take it onboard her flight. The tourist had even washed the shell in her hotel room so she wouldn't get her clothes dirty.
A bomb disposal unit was called in to dispose of the three-inch dud tank shell and the luggage hall was shut down for 15 minutes. Luckily, the passengers were never under threat.
The tourist had found the shell while hiking in the Austrian mountains and was fined $4,694 for negligent endangerment.
