A creek in California has helped to feed wine from a 97,000 gallon spill of red wine into a nearby river.

A blending tank door at Rodney Strong Vineyards popped open, causing the spill. The spill has been contained, but an estimated 46,000 to 96,000 gallons have leaked into the Russian River. The Russian River starts in Mendocino County, and flows into the Pacific just north of San Francisco Bay.

No reports have come yet of any dead fish, but it's expected as the acidity of the wine is likely to kill insects the fish feed on.

The Rodney Strong Vineyard is working with authorities and conducting an internal investigation saying on their Facebook page
