80-Pound Iguana Found In Freezer of Florida Pizza Joint
During a routine health board check at a West Palm Beach pizza shop, state inspectors found a dead, 80lb iguana in the freezer.
Pizza Mambo was forced to close for a day following the investigation by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. An employee at the store said the animal was given as a gift to the restaurant's owner.
The iguana was kept in a freezer away from food used at the restaurant, and was thrown away after the health inspector explained why it was a violation.
Non-native iguanas are becoming a problem in South Florida. So much, that the state has given permission to and encouraged humanely killing them.
Male iguanas typically grow to about 5 feet long, and weigh 20lbs. This one was obviously a big boy.
