Police in Alabama made a huge discovery earlier this month when they took hold of nearly seven dozen gallons of moonshine during what started as a routine traffic stop.

Back on January 9th, the Ozark Criminal Investigations Bureau says Officer Dylan Griffin pulled over 61-year-old Learndis Hamilton for a traffic violation near Dothan.

When he got up to the car and spoke with Hamilton, Officer Griffin noticed a large number of containers in plain sight in the vehicle in reused gallon containers.

It was weird enough that he decided to investigate and discovered the gallon containers were 81 gallons of illegally distilled moonshine.

Learndis Hamilton told Officer Griffin he was passing through on his way from Florida, but never made his final destination clear. Police are assuming with that amount of moonshine, it was being sold to someone somewhere.

The 81 gallons of moonshine are a huge violation of Alabama law, where the legal limit is 0 gallons of moonshine.

Hamiton was arrested by Officer Griffin, and the case was turned over to the Alabama Beverage Control Board.
