A 77-year-old woman in Bradenton, Florida was left with stitches on her face after fighting off a wild otter that jumped her while she was kayaking.

Sue Spector and a group of friends were floating down a river when one of them noticed an otter in the water. "And then all of a sudden he jumped on the kayak and two seconds later he jumped on me."

The animal wouldn't relent and Sue had to use her paddle to defend herself. Eventually the otter let go and the other kayakers in the group helped to keep it at bay.

To protect against rabies, Sue is taking antibiotics and has four other treatments for good measure.
